"coast"ering along

I'm totally enjoying my crocheting things still, but for some reason I'm feeling I'm "lacking" in the inspirational joy of what I've completed or what I want to make next. Not sure if it's because I'm just doing small things with thread lately, like bookmarks and coasters and doilies, or that it's not wearable, or because it's not for a specific person, or what? (I need a bitchslap with one of those crocheted doilies upside the head maybe?) LOL
Here's a few little summer coaster thingies I made up
28-summer_coasters
I'm thinking I should make some matching bookmarks for them perhaps.

I also have a new WIP in thread, a 36" tablecover. Another pattern find in one of my older 1998 Crochet Fantasy mags when they had a good assortment of projects in their magazines. It kinda drives me crazy that I can't find a good source for more assorted thread colors here in Winnipeg. I need a thread gift for myself. note to self: check with Jaclim on her threads (which are AWESOME btw) and what the shipping costs to Winnipeg approximately would be. Jaclim lives in the Phillipines I think and (she's from Crochetville)and they have access mostly to thread not yarn.

Well, back to Linear Algebra studying!! I'm totally enjoying that course but lacking concentration in that of late too.

hmm, maybe a cheesecake or DQ Blizzard run might help?

Catchup not ketchup :)

hey everyone out there in blogdom!!

I had such a productive weekend, and still had time to do my fun things. I started looking for a few things and ended up clearing out a lot of crap out of my happy room - found some of my old crochet mags, even found my big 15 inch doily I had made a few years back. So I now have that showpieced on my round table. Of course I have to block it. I should have taken the pic with a coffee mug or something to show its size. I have to look thru my old mags that I found and find which pattern it was.

I also got a new battery pack for my digital camera so was able to take pics for my blog this week, and also Crochetville,
my second home, LOL. I love the posts and people there and just get so much inspiration to try new and more projects. If not for seeing all the ponchos and shawls there I probably wouldn't have made as many as I did.

Here's two of my shawls I finished in the last few weeks.

My beautiful "Evening Shawl"...

28-evening_shawl

I found this pattern such a pain in the ass for the first nine rows always thinking I had done something wrong, then got confidence in the next ten or so rows and then flew thru the rest of the pattern repeats. I love the shaping of this shawl. I made it out of TLC Essentials baby - sport weight with a 3.75mm hook; used about 1 3/4 skeins. Here's the pattern
if you want to give it a go - the pic they have on the pattern page in no way shows how nice it actually is. I saw the one that Beth (Three Olives) made and thought it was gorgeous so decided to give it a try.

And the other shawl - Celebrity type like Deneen R.A.O.K'd me with. Made in Bernat Soft Boucle - color Mauve Shades. The pattern was quick and easy to follow and turned out beautiful in the boucle. I should have re-taken the picture with the shawl spread out better, but you get the idea. Yep, that's my back yard, one acre of trees and lawn for the h-man to mow while I'm crocheting and keeping watch, LOL.

All excited cause I got 4 R.A.O.K.'s packaged up and addressed today and almost finished putting the 5th together. I'll get them mailed this week and then be sitting on pins and needles til they get to the RAOKees.

I'll update most of the threadwork I've been doing on another post, but don't you just love what I did to these jeans?

 28-flower_jeans

My friend's little girl, Brooke, LOVES pink, you've seen her modelling pink things here before gave me a pair of her jeans that had a little hole in them so I crocheted a bunch of little pink flower creations and sewed them all over the front and back. She's going to LOVE them, and be excited that she has something the other girls at school aren't wearing. I'm so excited to get them to her.

Bummer, my car's long part of the tailpipe rusted thru and hasn't fallen off but it sounds like my car is a jet engine instead of a car so I'll be dropping that off the the garage heros tomorrow.

I'm so behind on some of my blog reading too, so off now to catch up.

Have a happy!!

Monday, May 16

A few weeks ago I scooped some great old crochet mags and book at the Children's Hospital Used book sale. Happy me!!'
Since I seem to be hooked on thread crochet lately, I was thrilled to find a doily book 101smalldoilybook
and.. for your viewing pleasure, hehe, 10 old crochet mags with great patterns, picked up for around $1 each!!

and more "sheep" thrills

These should keep me going for awhile, in between getting a fix of crochet publications at a store.

I still have to take pictures of my two shawls that I made, and yes...more bookmarks. One of the bookmarks I made and LOVE making is The Crochet Dude's new pattern Gingko Bookmark. Beautiful pattern and simple to memorize and crochet anywhere. Thanks for sharing your pattern Drew. :)

Adds to the stash flock

I've been crocheting lots, but haven't gotten my pics taken yet. Two shawls done and more bookmarks,...and other WIP's. I have to get back to my 63 square afghan yet too, all the squares are done and I think I have only a dozen or so to get the edging on and then put it together. Yay! Crocheting and reading are two of my main relaxations, and eating up the clock on reading other blogs and Crochetville as well.

I had a few additions to my flock too (stash flock) :)

My first NORO Kureyon wool and a swirl of matching Selkirk wool - from some overtime cash I went to Ram Wools and splurged on myself :)

stash-add

and a great buy at a ValueVillage store...all this for $6 - good times!

stashhaul-6bucks

6-50g balls of color 5807 Light Blue Patons 100% cotton Weekender yarn +
8 oz of 6strand White Buffalo 100% pure virin wool (haha...wouldn't ya know I made a typo on "virgin") LMAO

I had heard of the White Buffalo wool before and saw it in someone's blog where they made an awesome felted bag, so I think I'll do the same.

thanks for visiting...have a splendid-licious day!!

Yarnalicious stuff

Check out this gorgeous wool that someone brought me from India!! Is it gorgeous or what? I'll have to test it for content and how much there is when I wind it all up into balls of joy. Yep, stick a fork in it and chow down, it's beautiful. I love the fuschia color he chose. Not bad at all for a non-yarn person, LOL

yummy-yarn_india

and got another gift yesterday from a temp prof here at work,...he knows I have a "quality pen" fetish, LOL. I thought it was so nice of him, remembering that it was Administrative Professional's week last week. Yep, it's a Cross pen, and a beautiful chrome and black one at that. Natalie will appreciate another office supply nut in the crochet world, haha.

Have a yarnalicious day people!!

always a nice read...

We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another. Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and we'll be more content when they are. After that, we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage. We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, when we are able to go on a nice vacation or when we retire. The truth is there's no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when? Your life will always be filled with challenges.

It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway. Happiness is the way. So, treasure every moment that you have and treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time with .. and remember that time waits for no one.

So, stop waiting ...
Until your car or home is paid off.
Until you get a new car or home.
Until your kids leave the house.
Until you go back to school.
Until you finish school.
Until you lose 10 lbs.
Until you gain 10 lbs.
Until you get married.
Until you get a divorce.
Until you have kids.
Until you retire.
Until summer..
Until spring.
Until winter.
Until fall.
Until you die.

There is no better time than right now to be happy. Happiness is a journey, not a destination. So work like you don't need money, love like you've never been hurt, and, dance like no one's watching.

made a DOT pattern

Hey, I finished my DOT's Gentle Ripple poncho pattern on the weekend. It was a nicely written pattern to follow and I think the result is quite pretty. It's made of a tweed acrylic, sport weight for summer.
thanks Dot! (Mr. Planthead is the model, LOL)
Dots-rippleponchopattern

I have so many pictures to update I'll probably do it over several days so I don't overload/over bore you. I was busy crocheting all weekend again, and one of these days I'll actually update my WIP Wednesday too.

I've been having fun working on bookmarks from the 3 dozen+1 booklet I got awhile ago. It was strange working with thread again, but thread was all I worked with about 6 years ago,...then everyone I knew got "doily'd out", haha.
Here's a little plethora of the last week's threading (left hand corner is a card from Andrea with HankChipper, hahaaa). Thank you for the card and yarn snippit samples Andrea.

Time to scare up some supperfood, yech.
